Career Marketing

Introduction and Contents

Why should you market yourself? You're bright, ambitious, and hard-working. Won't you rise to the top of your career ladder without selling yourself ? The answer is no, for the following reasons:

Controlling your career

In the short term you may be held up by a bad organisation or boss, but in the long run it is up to you. Be in control of your career; no-one else should be. Make long-term plans and short-term sacrifices, set goals, have patience, and make the best of the rest of your career. The earlier you set goals, make a commitment, and take action, the greater the long-term results. Never mind if you haven't done it before. Do it now!

What to do

Develop the skills that will make you a valuable professional, and learn to promote those skills in a way that will earn you the respect and success that you deserve. Future articles will discuss various strategies, techniques and tools to help you attain your goals.
