Use this command to create a user variable (or substitution variable) and to assign it a value.

DEF[INE] variable_name [= text]]

Use this command to delete one or more lines from the buffer.

DEL [{b | * | LAST} [ {e | * | LAST}]]

where b is the line to delete, or the first of the range to delete, and e is the last line in a range to delete. * means the current line.

Use this command to display informatioon about a table, view, an Oracle8 object type, stored package, stored prcedure, or stored function.

DESC[RIBE] [schema.]object.name

              [@database_link_name]

Use this command to close your database connection without terminating SQL*Plus.
