Planning a holiday when you are freelance is not easy. You can rarely predict whether you are going to be rushed off your feet or out of work. So, I booked flights from London Heathrow to Los Angeles, a hotel and a hire car at relatively short notice, and just hoped that some of my on-line friends would be able to meet me while I was over there.
Fortunately some could, so I booked flights to Portland, Oregon and to San Francisco for the two weekends I would be in the States. Apart from that I made few preparations for my holiday as I was suffering from recurrent flu, which left me so tired that I was spending my lunch hours sleeping in my motor caravan in the company car park.
The flu finally let up just before the holiday, so I spent 2 days rushing around madly buying things, getting some dollars and generally trying to get myself organised. I didn't go to bed at all the night before the flight, but packed instead. No wonder I forgot some things!
In episode 2 - will there be room on the bus to the airport?
