The only wet day of my holiday. It wasn't so bad in LA, but driving north on the freeway to Camarillo, it was impossible to see the road, and hard to see the car in front. I managed to find Toby Scott's office, though, and watched him at work for a while and met his wife before he took me out to lunch by the marina. There we had the most enormous portions of sandwiches, and very nice they were too! He said it was the only day of rain in two months. The weather having spoiled the usual California spectator sports, we drove around Ventura County for a little while, then he then took me to Barnes and Noble, which I had never seen before. I could get used to a shop like that!
Toby then invited me home to dinner with his family, and their dog Cashin. This was quite an experience, as they are an extraordinary family. We had artichokes, which I had never tried before, so I had to be instructed in the art of eating them. :-)
Today I turned left out of the hotel, and saw some more of the Walk of Fame, including the Beatles' star by the monument. Then it was time to drive to the airport again, to catch flight UA 2034 for San Francisco departing 12:15 and arriving 13:45.
In episode 11 - Will we find Linda's Beetle? Will she frighten me to death? Will I learn any German?
