The Information Systems Examination Board (ISEB) certificate is awarded after passing a one hour multiple choice examination. It is usually taken after a 3 day course. According to the BCS, "The Foundation Certificate is for software developers, testers (both technical and user acceptance testers), test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, and managers including test managers, project managers, quality managers, - anyone with an interest in testing. This certificate provides visible evidence that the individual understands the basics of software testing."
"The Practitioner Certificate is for experienced testing practitioners. This certificate demonstrates a depth of knowledge of testing topics and the ability to perform testing activities in practice." It is a 3 hour paper requirig essays.
"The Practitioner Diploma is aimed at experienced testing practitioners, and those specialising in particular areas of testing such as techniques, automation or management. The diploma is awarded to those with advanced in-depth expertise and experience in software testing."
