Accessibility
Introduction
Why bother making a web site in such a way that not all of your potential customers or audience can access it? Are you really content with reaching, say, only those with 20-20 vision using Micrsoft Internet Explorer and maybe a few others? If you haven't put much thought into your design, your site may not even be all that easy for them to use, either, and some may head off for a better site.
Besides, don't you want to be proud of your site?
One of the great things about the World Wide Web is that it enables people to do all sorts of things that they might not otherwise be able to do - all of us, not just the disabled. For instance ordering something from a store located somewhere that we are never likely to be able to visit in person, or discussing things with people all over the world. Leaving some people out of it is just plain cruel, and deprives ourselves too.
If those reasons aren't enough, then there's always the long arm of the law.
Accessibility is not just about access for those with disabilities. Another aspect is Internationalisation - allowing for users who come from different cultures and who use different languages.
