Food

Hi!

I like food, just like everyone else. I also try to eat healthily - most of the time. Here is a hodge podge of sites and recipes and advice I've found on the net to complement the books I have at home. I gradually reduced the amount of meat I ate at home to zero, while still being willing to eat meat when I was out if there was nothing else available. Eventually I realised that I had not eaten meat for months, probably years, so I can't say when I became vegetarian, but it was years ago, and I have been ever since.

I find I don't miss meat at all, though I do get frustrated in situations where I don't have much choice.

I'm now working to reduce the amount of dairy in my diet, for health reasons, and so it is easier to avoid food produced by animals that are not enjoying a healthy lifestyle. I can't see myself ever going completely vegan, though.

Misc. notes

A Mediterranean diet is rich in olive oil, fibre, vegetables, fruit, flour and freshly cooked food - including non-frozen, home-made pizza.

Crush oats to make oatmeal with a rolling pin with ridges?

Best wood for rolling pins is sycamore. Treen - sycamore doesn't taste and has little tannin.

Quern to grind roman flour, but grit grinds down teeth.
